We all hear a well-known proverb “a healthy body has a healthy mind” This suits well in this pandemic condition. We should have greater immunity to fight against this virus no matter you are in quarantine or self-isolation. COVID-19 mostly affects mental health, so, one should have a stronger immunity to fight against this virus.

 To stay active during quarantine here are some best recommendations;

Set up a routine

Before pandemic, we all have a proper routine. But, due to lockdown, we stuck to our houses. So, to stay healthy and fit life, we have to establish a routine first. It not only helps us to stay active during this period but also helps us in adjusting in the routine after this pandemic.

Make a proper schedule from getting up early in the morning to going back to bed and follow it. Set proper mealtimes, exercise timing, sleeping time, etc, and stick to it. Live a disciplined life even in quarantine.

Have a healthy and balanced diet

Have a healthy and balanced diet. Normally due to our busy lives, we can’t focus on our health. But it’s time to strengthen your immune system. So, try to stay away from junk foods and carbonated drinks. Add some green vegetables and fruits to your meals.

Try to prepare your meals at home. Prefer fresh and plant-based foods. Limit your sugar intake. For women, the intake should not be greater than 6 spoons, and for men, it should be less than 9 spoons a day.

Also, limit your sodium and fat intake. Your salt intake should be under 2300 mg day. And when it comes to fats, try to avoid trans-fats and saturated fats. Avoid processed foods, as these are enriched with sodium, sugar, and fats.

Stay hydrated

Staying hydrated is essential for health. Water not only boosts our immune system but, it also flushes out toxins from the body. It can also help us hold off the craving. Our water intake depends upon age, height, and physical activity. But, in the general human body needs at least 6-8 glasses of water in 24 hours.

Almost 20-30% of our daily water need comes from our food. If you prefer to tap water, it’s the best option (and even much better if it is warm). But, sometimes it’s very difficult to drink a lot to water as its tasteless. So, you can squeeze a lemon in it. You can add mint, berries, or some fruit pieces. Green tea, coffee, and some fruits like watermelon are some other sources of water intake.

Stay physically active

 Normally we have no time due to our strict routine, but while staying at home and having nothing important to do is a great opportunity for us. Physical activities are essential for a healthier life. 30 minutes of physical activity is essential for the human body. There are so many things that one can do while staying at home.

 Go for a walk or have a little bit of yoga at home. Participate in housekeeping. Play games with your siblings. Bake something. As we have to stay at home all day, so, it can be stressful and depressive. So it’s necessary even for our mental health to be active.

Have a quality time with your family

 Normally most of us are away from our family. But, now you can enjoy some quality time with your loved ones. You can make something for your family or play a game with your siblings or parents.
 Just spend some time with them to show that you care. We all need it now. Find a recipe you and all your family members can enjoy, and they will appreciate your effort.
If you are not with them, make a phone call. There are so many social media apps through which you can not only share your pictures and videos but also make an audio and video call at any time from anywhere. Stay connected with your friends.

Take enough sleep. In general, a person needs about 7-8 hours of sleep in a day. But it varies with age. Lack of speed may cause health issues. But in this pandemic condition lack of sleep may disturb mental and physical health.
So, it’s necessary to establish a sleeping routine. Try not to take coffee or tea before going to bed and keep your surrounding peaceful and comfortable.

Follow safety measures

Strictly follows safety measures not only for you but also for the people around you. Remember that your slight negligence can lead to a bigger loss. Make sure to follow these precautionary measures;
·
·      Wash your hands for 20 sec with soap and wear a mask when moving out-sides.   Keep social distancing and avoid handshake. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or sneeze with coughing and sneeze and never forget to wash your hand after it.

When it comes to food handling,
·       Wash fruits and vegetables before eating.
·       Disinfect surfaces and objects before use.
·       Keep cooked food at an adequate temperature.
According to the European Food Authority, there is no evidence that COVID-19 can be transmitted through eating foods but
Prevention is better than cure”

Get info from trustworthy source

It is important to be updated on what’s going on in the world regarding COVID-19. But getting information from the most reliable and trustworthy source is more important. There is a lot of misinformation related to COVID-19 on the internet and social media sites.
So, get information’s only from government and international organizations i.e. WHOEFSA, etc. Another important thing is that always remember that you are not only one. It’s okay if you feel confused anxiously. Just stay patient and try to minimize watching more about COVID-19 because of its causes anxiousness and mental stress.
